burial at sea procedure

Burial at Sea
When conducting a burial at sea, the direction of the wind is of utmost importance. Make sure the ashes will scatter off the stern properly to avoid obvious embarrassment. Tradition calls for the vessel to fly it's flag at half mast, and the following prayer may be used:
"Unto Almighty God we commend the soul of our (brother) (sister) departed, and we commit (his) (her) body to the deep; in sure and certain hope of the resurrection unto eternal life." At the words "commit (his) (her) body to the deep," the person holding the cremated remains then scatters them off the stern of the vessel.

Me take out to hundred fathom and heave me over!

free eng parts anyone?

Well decision has been made for me. have to leave this marina or pay an extra 150 a month and get rid of Stephen.
Man I'm gonna miss A/C and Cable T/v! probably this blog some to hard to find free 4mbs wifi!
So St Augustine or Sebastian? any ideas anyone? bear in mind all i have is an 8hp kicker of unknown reliability. Id like to anchor and save some money to fix all of the kids damages and make it safer for big trip.

Any way I'd like to get this old engine off boat before i go. free parts if you get them through here else i'll part it out and sell on e-bay( i bought manifold for 300) fuel pump good but needs cleaning, injector pump, great injectors served 2010, manifold and riser are from westerbeke(list price over a grand!)
trick is, you have to take it ALL! i'll put on dolly on dock rest is up to you!

wait, wah?

why wont my links show?
"What’s worse than this is even when the plastic is free from outside toxins, its components can potentially wreck your body. Bisphenol A is a compound used in things like Nalgene bottles and dildos. It’s also a synthetic estrogen and can completely derail the reproductive system. Dr. Frederic vom Saal of the University of Missouri has been studying the effects of bisphenol A on lab mice for the past decade and has noticed ties to its exposure with an absurd suite of health problems including low sperm count, prostate cancer, hyperactivity, early-onset diabetes, breast cancer, undescended testicles, and sex reversal. Does the fact that humans can suffer SEX REVERSAL symptoms from inadvertently eating a compound that is used to make dildos qualify as irony?

debbie turns N/E like we knew it would

i had guessed a little more to the east but, who the heck told the tv it was going to turn west??

much better real info here,

http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tc_pages/tc_home.html

maybe T/V news should take a look?

hurricanes by county

Hmm, Georgia is looking good about now! came up to Brevard county FL and was thinking i wouldn't be bothered so much! HA!! used to be every storm passed KW last year they came by here!

Debbie does Dallas??? :)

Pick a model any model! while most T/V forecasters have it heading to Texas there really is no way of knowing since very little in the way of steering currents, part over land and shear quite high.
Slept in then lay here dozing wondering just what was so important i should get up for. kid comes in shouting "It's 9 allready we missed church!!!"
"Overcast with thunderstorms and rain showers. High of 86F. Breezy. Winds from
the SSE at 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%"
Might as well go back to bed :)

EDIT: from NWS
The track forecast is even more complex. The GFS insists on a track
toward the northeast as Debby becomes embedded within a large
mid-latitude trough. However...the ECMWF and the HWRF build a ridge
to the north of Debby and forecast a westward track. Given the
westward turn inherited from the previous forecast...as well as the
historical strong record of the ECMWF...the new official forecast
moves Debby initially a little bit to the northeast to reflect
current trends but then turns the cyclone back toward the west or
west-northwest in 24 to 36 hours. A majority of the GFS ensemble
members now are consistent with the deterministic run...which was
not the case yesterday...making a stronger case for the eastward
solution. We must be ready to make a change of the forecast track
at any time.

gonna get a little damp

Hope tom on mischief is staying inside as he planed! looks like we will be getting some rain from that crap near Cuba i mentioned a few days ago.

what happens when it gets in gulf is anyone's guess really, shear is still unfavorable for full development but that's some pretty warm water its meandering along!

Whatever floats your boat!

Found not one, not two but four leaks! two lifeline stanchions have been ripped out and one hastily repaired other not, the steering pedestal and valve for pooper tru-hull(should have smelled that one!) leaks. so it was the heavy downpours we had.
Note: after repairing steering be sure to replace bedding compound with 5200!

Todays work is cut out for me even if its raining now

1. remove backing plate and stanchion. 2. dry with heat gun 3. grind in slanted edges 4. screw in much longer baking plate. 4 epoxy deck with quick hardener 5. replace stanchion.
I'll have to go to west for hardener $35 or so in parts.

UH OH!!! Disaster in making! this was hidden behind pile when pile got knocked over could have easily broken off!

Looks like time for a swim. I've replaced a few tru-hull in water before. it sounds scary but its not.
1. wash inside fittings with muratic acid( removes corrosion so you can see just what your dealing with) DO NOT FORGET TO WASH With LOTS OF F/W AFTER!!!
2. jump in and lightly tap in DC plug( if you dont know what that is or have a bunch of them aboard, there just softwood cones. GO GET a bunch of different sizes at least one for each size tru hull and a spare for the one you WILL lose)
3. soak with PB blaster i love this stuff! repeat after a hour or so.
4. If fitting will come off with wrench good if not CAREFULLY heat it.
If nothing works its time for drastic measures not for feint of heart.
Check all bilge pumps, you might need them!!
Having at the ready a thick piece of plasticity film or heavy tarp liberally gooped with tar and a new tru hull with 5200 thickly goop.ed on use cutting wheel on grinder or torch to remove tru hull. then whack it with hammer to send it to Davy Jones.
have swimmer ready to plop on patch the second throughhull drops if he cant pop new tru hull in.
Keep Calm! there will be a gusher of water for a moment or two. if swimmer drops both patch and fitting remember those plugs!

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Well, i think i got a leak! bilge was up to floorboard again this morning. suspect the tru-hull for cooling water. also where lifeline stanchion was ripped out. it rained buckets yesterday.

They say life has its ups and downs
That really now is quite profound
I'd like to push the capstan round
But its pump me boys before we drown.

The ocean we all do adore
So come on boys let's pump some more
Don't worry if your stiff and sore
I'm sure we've pumped this bit before.

Sometimes when I am in me bed
And thinking of me day ahead
I wish that I could wake up dead
But pumpin's all I get instead.

Yes, how I wish that I could die
The swine who built this tub to find
I'd bring him back from where he fries
And pump him till the beggar's dry.

If Noah used him for his ark
Now wouldn't that have been a lark
>From rising sun till getting dark
The animals all hard at work.

There's so much water down below
Just how it got there I don't know
The old man says let's roll and go
But I think we're bound for Davey Jones.

I've been a wild rover for many a year
And I spent all my money on whiskey and beer,
And now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more.
And it's no, nay, never,
No nay never no more,
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more.
I went to an ale-house I used to frequent
And I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for credit, she answered me "nay
Such a custom as yours I could have any day."
And it's no, nay, never,
No nay never no more,
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more

stepping out taking my first sip of coffee i see this Lill lizard , wonder if he hears the same song? "So many nights i just sit and dream of the ocean, God i wish i was sailing again.
And that's me and My "lill dog to"
Stephen is my "midshipman" though he writes  of eating the fish he catches hes a well fed kid, like bubba the dog sausage is his favorite.
And there's Tommy! hates clothes, loves hot dogs and "ronie chee"
Bubba! recued from Marquises key. no humans were found a double rescue dog and the best boat dig ever. we do argue over just whose bed it is though!
we're docked in historic Eua Gallie(melboune) just a block from art district
you can just sense the serinta and history, we're on very end on left

still my favorite pic of the crew! on way up.
Hi all! and welcome. Some of you may know of us already. We are known as "The Boat Family" here in Melbourne FL US. We for some strange reason left Key West and never got any further than here for time being.
Some may even remember keyspcs, the blog i started while teaching windows and internet at Florida Key Community college.
I hope to have the theme of this one be in the words of Phil-Bob( old sponsor and mentor) "if you cant think of anything to be Grateful for.. write what you should be grateful for!" Appropriate it begins on fathers day 2012.
I'll start with some pics from the old blog so you can see us and the boat before getting into who we are
